Abstract

Economy is considered as a crucial and decisive element of any country. Other major elements including political, cultural and scientific also depend on the economic status. As in the case of Iran, Economic crimes, especially in recent year, have worsen, thus posing greater challenge for the disordered economy, dragging it to chaotic abyss. Meanwhile, the increasing rate of such crimes indicates that the prevention and combating of crimes have failed. Therefore, this research took advantage of an analytical-descriptive method to identify and explain the causes of committing such crimes, taking personal characters of the perpetrators, as well as the internal and external factors into account. Hence, comparing them with the theories of economic criminology to provide basis for effective prevention of such crimes. The outcome of this research suggest that internal factors including cultural factors, economic system structure, legislative system’ s failure in introducing the macro policies, the failure of government’ s executive policies, also poor methods of criminal confrontation for many years on one hand, and international elements such as sanctions on the other hand have paved the way for opportunities of these crimes and have led to spread of Economic crimes in the territory of Iran.
