CALCULATION OF LEVEL VARIATIONS AND WAVE DRIVEN WATER TRANSMISSION IN CORAL COASTS OF PERSIAN GULF (KISH ISLAND)

Abstract

 Kish island location with its particular views has special climate, combining sea and land physical features, has led to a new form which can be observed easily. These points have credited the Kish Island and because of its special geographical and topographical position, Kish has potentials and capabilities for tourism and establishment of coastal and marine structures. Considering marine climate and COASTAL CURRENTS, a theoretical model is presented that in which some parameters such as water height, COASTAL CURRENTS and mass transport over shallow coral coasts of Kish can be predicted. Used parameters are: width of smooth coast (with constant depth), distance of breaking waves, and coast slope after constant depth and water depth at wave breaker. Two important coefficients of parameters in this relation are: first, relation of constant depth of coast to water depth at wave breaker (R1=H/hb), and second, relation of coast width (with constant depth) to distance of wave breaker (R2 [xR/L]). In this paper special attention has been made to equilibrium between pressure gradient and stress due to wave which is related to low depth CORAL REEF. Mean WATER TRANSMISSION in a hypothetical case is 0.3 SV which is more in north east and south east of Kish Island and is less in North West and south west, and mean SEA LEVEL VARIATIONS calculated up to 80 cm.
