Abstract

 INTRODUCTION: Hepatitis C virus (HCV) can cause both acute and chronic hepatitis. It is a major public health problem in most countries with a considerable prevalence. In recent years the annual incidence of acute HCV infection has decreased, but chronic HCV infection is the leading cause of liver transplantations.
