Abstract

DEAR EDITOR, Duration of time spent on television (TV) viewing, computer and video games have been linked to childhood obesity. A causal relationship with lifestyle disorders has been documented. The lack of physical activity has been considered as one of the important predisposing factor for obesity. The concurrent with a decrease in energy expenditure increased time for leisure activities has been associated with the epidemic of obesity. Limited data are available on duration of time spent on these leisure time sedentary activities amongst obese and nonobese children.
