Abstract

Pagan POETRY is the oldest treasure of ARAB"S VOCABULARY. That is the most valuable source for understanding the old and absolute, Arabic lexicon. Such lexicon is also very usefule for gaining knowledge about the ancient Arab people. This is why the muslim scholars, from the begining when writing was invented in the second century (A.H) They began collecting and editing the old works of writing numerous commenteries and glosses, and heavily citing such works in their own writings. The complication of old poems in invaluable collection preserved them from getting lost or distorted. Among the old poetic collections, and anologies SHANTAMARY"s commentary is valuable and famous to which later writers have refered.
