Abstract

Pulse and BLOOD PRESSURE measurement are essential for physical examinations. According to the most medical resources for BLOOD PRESSURE measurement, the arm must be free of CLOTHING. That is religiously prohibited in Islam.Aim of this study is to determine the effect of covering in results of pulse and blood pressure reading.This clinical trial carried on 231 medical students from LORESTAN medical university. At first in lying position rate, rhythm and quality of pulse and then BLOOD PRESSURE given from bare right arm. After 5 minute, these parameters are given from clotting arm.Mean systolic and diastolic pressure without cloth are 114.25 mmHg and 71.66 mmHg (P=0.39) and with cloth are 113.45 mmHg and 71.73 mmHg (P= 0.84). Pulse rate without cloth is 71.3 b/min and with cloth 71.33 b/min (P=0.55). Therefore the result of pulse and BLOOD PRESSURE reading with covering didn't have statistically difference with free of cloth reading.
