Abstract

Penile complete amputation is considered as an uncommon injury, however when it is occurred, the amputated tissue must be preserved under sterile and hypotermic condition and the patient should be transferred to a microvascular center for REPLANTATION as soon as possible.Occasionally and in special circumstances a general urologist may be called upon to carry out and resolve this unusual situation along with limited and available equipment.Our case is a 12-year old boy whose genitalia had been severely traumatized with a power- saw.The diagnosis of penile complete amputation was made intraoperatively at the time of exploration, consequently he underwent end to end anastomosis of dorsal vein microscopically with subsequent gross repair of other elements of the penis.The replanted segment survived well and after 3 months follow up the patient had satisfactory erection and penile sensation.
