Abstract

Since periodontitis can cause 1 (long term changes in fatty acid metabolism and 2) increase and reinforce the inflammatory cytokines production, therefore it appeared to be an important RISK FACTOR for CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE. In this manner studies show that cardiovascular problems are the common systemic in periodontal patients. It is very important to notice the PERIODONTAL DISEASE as a potentially RISK FACTOR for ischemic cardiac disease and then immediate and well timed effort for treatment of periodontitis can lead to decrease risk of occurrence and development of heart disease. According to this comment it is more preferable that cardiologists refer their patients to a periodontitis for examination and checkup for the periodontal Status.
