Abstract

Education has a decisive role in any system of government, and the government is obliged to make policy in the field of education. The purpose of the present study was to explain the government's duties in the field of education from the perspective of Islam by ijtihad method and by using revelatory sources (Quran and Hadith). In terms of benefits and harms, sciences are divided into four categories: "religious sciences", "worldly useful sciences", "useless sciences" and "harmful sciences". In this research, first, the role of government in religious sciences, useful worldly sciences and useless sciences is examined. At the end of the definition and limits of harmful sciences (misguidance) and jurisprudential ruling, the role of government in them has been examined. According to the findings of this study, based on the teachings of Islam, religious sciences and then useful world sciences have the greatest benefit for human beings. For this reason, the Islamic government is obliged to provide the ground for Teaching and learning this type of science. It is also obligatory to prevent the Teaching and learning of misguided sciences.
