Abstract

 Background and Aim: Divorce is a multi-dimensional phenomenon and contributes to several factors. The purpose of this study was to compare emotional schemas and self-repression in Women seeking Divorce and non-applicant individuals of Divorce. Method: This is descriptive and causal-comparative study. The statistical population of the study consisted of all female applicants for Divorce and non-Divorce in Tehran. From this community, a sample of 160 people (85 female Divorced Women referring to the family court and 75 Women who had no record of action or demand for Divorce (according to the criteria for entry into the study by available sampling method Data collection tools for this research were Emotional Scheme Scale and self-incarceration scale. The findings were analyzed using multivariate analysis of variance. Findings and Results: The research showed that there is a significant difference between the scores of Women in the applicant and non-applicants Divorce groups in all the schemas, with the exception of ruminating, comprehensibility, simplistic view of emotions and attempting to rationality. Also, there was a significant difference between the scores of the two groups in the self-indulgence variable and all its sub-scales (external perception of self, self-sacrifice, self-repression and self-multiplicity). Therefore, emotional schemas and self-suppression are among the factors that can cause problems and intensify marital conflicts. Based on this model, it is possible to use efficient and effective interventions to help spouses on the brink of Divorce based on a preventive approach.
