Abstract

This essay deals with the status and condition of the objects in Franch modern novels, the kind of relationship which can be found within this object-like world and history cessation, death of the character, and the promotion of mental realism. The objects have not been treated in sImilar ways as the authors differ. While Robbe-Grillet describes objects at the expense of man"s expulsion, Ponge gives a new dimension to discourse by blowing a new spirit to objects. In Nathalie Sarraute"s works, we come across a type of sociology of objects which discloses the serious melancholy of contemporary man. In Perec"s novel, these objects are symbols of social strata, while Cloude Simon presents human history as an immense profusion of diverse objects, a heap of garbage.
