Abstract

Necroziting FASCIITIS is an invasive and rapidly progressive bacterial which is associated with NECROSIS of connective tissue and spreads along the fascial planes. Head & NECK involvements are rare which still is more common in NECK comparing to face. Cerivical necrotizing FASCIITIS (CNF) is usually secondary to an odontogenic or pharyngeral infection. This study reports a case of CNF with mediastinal extension secondary to an odontogenic infection.Due to high rate of mortality and morbidity of this disease and the importance of early diagnosis and proper management, different aspects of this disease will be reviewed.
