Abstract

The development of the tourism industry in any country is a sign of the stability of national security in that country, and tourism flourishes in a country when the government attempts to ensure the security of tourism. So tourism is directly related to security; especially religious tourism in insecure countries like Iraq. This study aims at investigating the impact of Iranian-Iraqi Police interactions on the development of religious tourism. Based on the study’ s purpose, the current research is applied and takes advantage of a mixed method (qualitative and quantitative). One main hypothesis and three sub-hypotheses are proposed in this study. Iranian and Iraqi Security Forces participated in this study as the statistical population and as the study was conducted during days that were not related to any religious ceremonies (the first five months of 1398), about 130 Iranian and 130 Iraqi forces participated in it. During the study, 97 Iranian Security Forces and 97 Iraqi Security Forces were chosen using the Cochran’ s formula and a classified sampling method, and a researcher-made questionnaire consisting of 30 questions was distributed among them. The extracted data were analyzed using SPSS software (version 24). The research results show that in the interactions between the Iranian and Iraqi Police, the positive imaging of the behavioral, informational and security aspects has had a positive effect on religious tourism and both Iranian and Iraqi Police are influencing the development of security and religious tourism in Iraq.
