Abstract

The preset study aimed to examine the prediction of Perfectionism and Psychological Needs regarding exercise addiction in Female Athlete Students. The present research is descriptive-correlative and applied in terms of its purpose. The standard multidimensional Perfectionism questionnaires, the basic Psychological Needs of athletes, and the practice addiction checklist of Terry & et al. were used. Kolmogorov-Smirnov tests, Pearson correlation coefficient and stepwise regression tests were used to analyze the data. The results of the study showed that there is a significant positive correlation between addictive Perfectionism and athletic female students. Also, there was a significant positive correlation between Self-oriented and other-oriented Perfectionism with Addiction to Exercise. There was no significant relationship between Psychological Needs and all three components of autonomy, competence and addiction to sport. The results of regression analysis also indicated that Perfectionism is a significant predictor of sports addiction.
