Abstract

The livability of urban neighborhoods and measuring the satisfaction of its inhabitants in social, physical and economic dimensions is one of the important issues in the continuation of life and development of urban contexts. increasing the livability has a significant impact on the sustainability of neighborhoods. the purpose of this study is a comparative study and comparison of viability indices in old and new neighborhoods of Kashmar city and the statistical population includes the residents of Seyed Morteza neighborhoods and the old city. The sample size was 200 people and 100 people from each neighborhood have interviewed by random sampling method. In terms of purpose, this is applied research, and based on the research strategy, it is a survey type and a questionnaire tool used to collect data. The validity of the questionnaire has obtained using content validity and its reliability has obtained through Cronbach's alpha (0. 996). Multivariate t-test, one-sample t-statistic has used to analyze the data. The results show that there is a direct relationship between socio-economic status of citizens and viability. The level of satisfaction with the general indicators of viability in the old city is low and there is a relative satisfaction with the economic index with an average of 2. 43 that the overall index of viability in the town of Seyed Morteza (0. 35) is higher than the average less it is average. In Seyed Morteza town, the economic index with an average of 3. 47 have the highest satisfaction and the physical index has the lowest satisfaction.
