Abstract

 Today, in all organizations, the most important pillar that affects the achievement of organizational goals is management. The manager is the official representative in the organization who is in charge to establish coordination and increase effectiveness. Therefore, one of the factors that is very necessary and vital for managers is the existence of managerial competencies, and one of the sections that requires competent managers is the Creative Industries. The purpose of this study is to design a Competency model for creative industry managers in the news section of the Islamic Republic of Iran TV. The research method is qualitative on the basis of grounded theory. The statistical population of the present study included managers and experts active in the field of Creative Industries, specifically in television news. Sampling in the present study was done theoretically, through which 11 managers and experts were selected. In this research, interview tools have been used to gather the views of managers and experts in Creative Industries. The research tools included unstructured and open interviews. The results, generally, showed that the required competencies for creative industry managers in TV news include four general categories of managerial competencies, practical competencies, individual competencies, and specialized competencies. Practical competencies include four subcategories (awareness of distant and close environmental factors, specialized and professional knowledge, complementary knowledge, experience and good reputation). Individual competencies include four subcategories (courage and boldness, high emotional intelligence, positive organizational behavior, selfknowledge). Managerial competencies include three subcategories (technical and executive skills, human and communication skills, mental and intellectual skills), and specialized competencies include two subcategories (news knowledge and audience recognition).
