Abstract

Introduction: More than 30% of the population over 30 years old have nearly 20% overweight, and unfortunately due to less exercise and a life of ease, number of obese people are increasing. Along with OBESITY some diseases such as PCO are rising increasingly.Materials and Methods: This descriptive cross- sectional research was carried out to determine OBESITY prevalence and its relationship with OVULATION and OBESITY in Khorramabad female high school students.In this study 986 students were selected by systematic random sampling. Data collecting tools were questionnaire and observation.Findings: Results showed that overweight prevalence according to BMI = 24-30 was approximately 17.8% and OBESITY prevalence according to BMI>30 was approximately 3.7%.Rate of OVULATION and unovulation in overweight group was 43.2% and 56.8% respectively. And this ratio in fat group students was 36.1 % versus 63.9%. Statistical tests showed significant relation between OBESITY and unovulation (P=0.0001).Conclusion: With respect to the results correct training about menstruation periods , signs and symptoms before menstruation and dysmenorrhea to female students seems to be essential. If mentioned disorders are due to OBESITY their refractory complications can be reduced by in time diagnosis and immediate treatment.
