Abstract

 Background: Chronic renal failure causes a decrease in mental health and life satisfaction. Prayer as a religious coping strategy can be a great help to Subjective well-being in these patients. This study aimed to investigate relationship between attitude and practical commitment to Prayer with subjective well-bring in Chronic renal failure patients admitted in selected hospitals in Kashan city, 2019. Materials and Methods: This study was a descriptive analytical research. 180 patients were selected through census method. The research tools included: background information questionnaire, attitude and practicing Prayer questionnaire, and Edinburgh Subjective well-being questionnaire. Data were analyzed by SPSS version 16 using t-test, Pearson correlation coefficient and regression analysis. Results: The findings of this study showed that 59% of subjects were male, 80. 6% were married, mean score of attitude and practical commitment to Prayer (on a scale of 200-0) and subjective wellbeing (on a scale of 147-14) in the patients under study was 144. 92± 28. 73 and 52. 57± 4. 64, respectively. The variables of attitude and practical commitment to Prayer and non-other underlying illness, in addition to renal failure, explained 74% and 20% of the variance of Subjective well-being score, respectively. There was a statistically significant relationship between employment status and place of residence with Subjective well-being, so that the scores of Subjective well-being were higher in unemployed and rural patients. Conclusion: Subjective well-being of patients in this study was high, the score of attitude and practical commitment to Prayer and non-other underlying illness can be the important variables related to Subjective well-being.
