Abstract

The aim of this study was to compare Personality traits in athlete and non-athlete students of medical sciences universities of Iran. The research method was Practical and descriptive survey was conducted as a field. The study population was all students of Universities of Medical Sciences. The sample size was estimated using Morgan table 384. For sampling, multistage cluster sampling method was used as 192 athletes and 192 nonathletes were selected. To collect data, Personality questionnaire of Rentov et al (2003) was used. Independent t-test was used for comparing groups. Results showed that there is significant difference between athlete and nonathlete students in Personality traits as athletes had more scores in extraversion, compatibility, emotional stability and openness to experience. There is no difference in conscientious. In conclusion, Sport activities create statuses that reinforce athletes control on psychological traits such as positive Personality traits.
