Abstract

Introduction: Suburb, an outlying district of a city, is one of the most important issues in the field of social and urban security, which Third World countries, especially our country, are concerned with. Suburbanites who have immigrated to the city areas around the country for some reasons often do not have the sense of belonging to their new living places; and this causes a lot of security problems. The purpose of this research is to investigate the relationship of Suburbanites and social security by examining the intermediate role of place belonging sense. Method: This study is a kind of applied research and its methodology is considered as a correlation study. The statistical population is about 48, 123 people. The sample size is about 384 people according to the Cochran formula. In this research, Cronbach's Alpha method is used to determine the reliability of the research tools. The total reliability of the questionnaire was higher than 0/7. Findings: Findings have shown that there is a significant relationship between Suburbanites and social security. Also, the intermediate role of place belonging sensation in examining the effect of Suburbanites on social security has been confirmed. Conclusion: According to the findings of the study, increasing of place belonging sensation in the Mahdasht marginal areas of Karaj through a series of cultural, economic, social, recreational, residential measures and people participation can significantly increase the social security of that city.
