Abstract

Introduction: Addiction nowadays has become one of the most severe problems of human society, which leads to the emergence of poverty and unemployment and, more importantly, the appearance of frequent occupational, social and legal issues. The primary purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of behavior-dialog therapy in changing the level of negative and positive meta-cognitive beliefs among addicted to Khorramabad city. Methods: This quasi-experimental study was carried out using a pretest-posttest design with the control group. The research sample consisted of 40 subjects selected from among addicted men in Khorramabad city of Iran and randomly assigned to experimental (of Cognitive Group Therapy) and control groups. At the intervention stage, the experimental group was trained in life-style therapy in 8 sessions. Metacognitive beliefs questionnaire was used for data collection in pre-test and post-test phases for both experimental and control groups. Data were analyzed using a multivariate analysis of MANCOVA. Results: The results of covariance analysis showed a significant difference between the two groups (P < 0. 06). The findings indicated that the Cognitive Group Therapy of the health care system is effective in changing the level of positive and negative financial implications(P = 0. 001, F = 141/181). The results of univariate analysis of covariance showed that Cognitive Group Therapy increased positive beliefs with the Eta coefficient of 0. 62 and Cognitive self-awareness with Eta coefficient of 0. 61, as well as decreased cognitive antagonism with ETA coefficient of 0. 47, uncontrollability and thought risk. With eta coefficient of 0. 38 and the need to control thoughts with an eta coefficient of 0. 44 had a significant effect. Conclusions: Therefore, people who work in the field of combating drugs, and treating people with Addiction, use of Cognitive Group Therapy, they can create metacognitive beliefs in patients.
