Abstract

The aim of this study was to predict stress coping styles based on identity styles and psychological well-being of Hamadan province police staff. In this research, a descriptive correlational research method was used. The statistical population of this study included all NAJA staff in Hamedan city. 320 people were selected as the sample through cluster sampling method and Krejcie and Morgan table. Three questionnaires were used in order to collect the required data; including psychological well-being Questionnaire of Reef (2002), identity styles Questionnaire of Brzonsky (2000), and Stress Management Strategies of Andler and Parker (1990). Their validities were determined by the content validity and their reliabilities by Cronbach's alpha coefficient. Their values were calculated in the mentioned questionnaires as 0. 90, 0. 80 and 0. 84, respectively. In this research, the indices of descriptive and inferential statistics are used in SPSS software to test the hypotheses. The indices are as follows, mean, percentage, KolmogorovSmirnov test, multiple regression test, and analysis of variance. The results indicate that there is a positive and significant relationship between the components of informative identity styles, normative identity style, and commitment identity style and coping with stress. However, there is a significant and negative relationship between the component of avoidance confused identity style and coping with stress. In addition, there is a positive and significant relationship between the components of psychological well-being and stress coping styles. Therefore, the findings clarified that identity and psychological wellbeing styles are able to predict staff's stress coping styles.
