Title

Correlation of Islamic Lifestyle with Spiritual and Social Health

Abstract

 Aims Today, one of the most promising paradigms of development and health is attention to lifestyle and its vital role in health dimensions. The aim of this study was to investigate the correlation of Islamic lifestyle with spiritual and Social Health from the viewpoint of teachers and principals of Urmia. Instruments & Methods This descriptive-correlational study was conducted in 2016 among 320 teachers and secondary school principals of Urmia, who were selected by stratified random sampling method. Data collection tools included Lifestyle questionnaire (LSQ), Keyes’ s Social Health questionnaire, and Paloutzian and Ellison’ s spiritual health questionnaire. The data were analyzed by Pearson correlation coefficient and linear regression test, using SPSS 19 software. Findings There was a positive and significant correlation between Islamic lifestyle and communication with oneself, interpersonal communication, superpersonal communication, intrapersonal communication, self-efficacy, social capital, and group participation of teachers and principals (p=0. 0001). Also, Islam lifestyle could express 64. 3% of communications with oneself, 67. 6% of interpersonal communication, 65. 1% of superpersonal communication, 44. 9% of intrapersonal communication, 35. 6% of self-efficacy, 67. 6% of social capital, and 68. 3% of changes in the group participation of teachers and principals (p=0. 0001). Conclusion Islamic lifestyle leads to improving the social and spiritual health of people in society, especially teachers and principals.
