Abstract

Tuberculous otitis media is rare, and we must consider it in CHRONIC REFRACTORY OTITIS MEDIA. A total of 1.174 cases of chronic supportive otitis media were treated during a five-year period in Amir A'lam Hospital. During this time there were 3 patients with tubnerculous otitis media. Prevalence was 0.25%. Diagnosis of tuberculous involvement of the middle ear is usually delayed. The characteristic signs and symptoms include intractable otitis media with polypoid granulation, severe hearing loss with no pain or pain or tenderness. Early diagnosis and treatment can reduce the complication.
