Abstract

 Introduction: Although routine histopathologic typing of hodgkin 's disease is useful, but is not completely ideal, so a semi-quantitative index, can help the pathologist for typing in complicated cases. If proliferation index has meaningful relationship with histopathologic subtype it can by very useful for hodgkin's typing.Methods: This study was cross-sectional & analytical descriptive on 70 cases of lymph node biopsies. Sampling was simple non-incidental. From each paraffin block, two slides were prepared. One with HE staining and another with Ki67, staining. Typing of the disease and proliferation (mitotic) index 10HPF were determined.Results: Mean of proliferation index per 10HPF in lymphocytic predominance cases was 15%, in nodular sclerosis 22.6%, in mixed cellularity 27.6%, and in lymphocytic depletion was 45%.Discussion: According to variance analysis with p <0.001,F=13.5 there is a meaningful relationship between proliferation index and hodgkin's histopathologic subtype. &67 immunostaining together with HE is very useful in hodgkin's typing.
