Abstract

For correction of hump in scoliotic patient, I compared 18 patients with rib hump more than 3cm who undertaken costoplasty with 14 patints corrected by rib resection for recovery of vital capacity. It was found that there are no differences of recovery of vital capacity, between costoplasty and rib hump resection. So it in concluded that because rib hump resection is easier, we can use this technique instead of costoplasty, and we can use the ribs that we exaised as a good source of ban graft. But, in spite of better release after rib hump resection we can not expect better total lung capacity.
