Abstract

The treatment of anal fissure makes numbers of problems' for the patient, such as relapse and incontinence. Also non surgical treatment (including laxatives, analgesics and local anesthetics) are largely ineffective, specially in chronic cases. So we have done the present research on 367 patients it lasted for 18 months. The cases have been divided in to 2 groups (A&B). The group A, has undergone the common non surgical treatment and the group B has been treated with GTN 0.2% plas the common drugs. After 4"Weeks following .the cases weekly 80% of the group B cases had been cured completely (including 63% of chronic cases,92% of acute cases). But at the same time, only 40% of the group A, Cases had been cured (including 19.3% of chronic cases, 50% of acute cases according to these results, treatment with GTN ointment 0.2% for the patient with anal fissure is suggested. Therefore, the use of GTN ointment seems to be a good first line treatment in chronic anal fissure, before surgical interventions.
