Abstract

Introduction. HP is an essential factor in gastritis, gastric ulcer duodenal ulcer, gastric cancer and lymphoma. Eradication of HP causes prevention of peptic ulcer and its complications. In developed country, reinfection with I-IP is rare, but in developing country reinfection is possible and differs in different countries. The aim of this study was discovery of the infection with HP in Iranian patients one year after treatment.Methods. Study was done in 110 patients, 57 men and 53 women, with D.U (85.4%), G.U (2%), and severe gastritis (12.6%). Diagnosis of HP infection was in base of rapid urease test, histology or culture. These patients treated with different drugs. Eradication was documented with C14UBT, four weeks after termination of treatment. One year after first negative C14UBT, with averaging of 17 month (12-29 months), these patients were surveyed, in base of clinical symptoms and C14UBT. Results. From 110 patients, after one year, 21 patients had positive C14UBT (19%). Age, sex, family number, GI problems and smoking were not suggestive for reinfection.Discussion. In this study reinfection with HP is high that nesseciate, specially in complicated D.U and G.U, maintenance therapy with H2 blockers.
