Abstract

Bricheteau in 1884 reported a case of air in the pericardium, this rare phenomena was reviewed by shackelford in 1931, and 77 cases were reported in the world literatures.The characteristic sign are pericardial tympany and metallic splashing sounds, CHEST film provides conclusive evidence.The causes of this phenomena are: penetrating CHEST TRAUMA, gastric and esophageal rupture, bronchopericardial fistula, gas production from contagious infection.Our patient was a 13 years old gril, that following penetrating CHEST TRAUMA feel dyspnea, tachycardia and expectoration, with bloody discharge.Chest X.Ray reviewed air in the pericardium, with characteristic sound by auscultation.The prognosis of our patient was good and the air was disappeard after 9 days and she discharged without any complication.
