Abstract

Since Nov. 1990 to Nov. 2000, 200 live donor have undergone nephrectomy via an, extraperitoneal flank approach. Over - all hospital stay was short and mortality and major complication was negative. Early graft Function was excellent as determined by urinary output in the first 24 hours postoperatively (6100-39100 ml.). Follow-up of kidney donors show no evidence of progressive renal deterioration or hypertentioh. We conclude that an extraperitoneal flank approach is the safest for the live donor nephrectomy and provides an optimal allograft for the recipient.
