Abstract

MEDITERRANEAN LYMPHOMA is one of the primary Lymphoproliferative small intestinal disorder (lPSID) in which proliferation of plasma cell in the proximal small intestine leads to overproduction of IgA heavy chain, with their sequestration into the blood stream. There appears to be a spectrum of disease, varying from simple plasma cell infiltration to frank lymphoma, predominantly of immunoblastic type.MEDITERRANEAN LYMPHOMA most commonly affects young adults from poor socioeconomic background.This study was performed to describ clinicopathologic feature of 45 patients with histologicaly confirmed disease, (26 male, 19 female). Median age of the patients were 27±11.5 years. Patients were predominantly of poor socioeconomic class. Main presenting feature were chronic diarrhea and the main involved location in small intestine were jejunum. According to the WHO classification 40 of the patients had stage A disease and remainder had stage B disease. In Conclusion we suggesed IPSID should be considered in differential diagnosis of the patient that present with malabsorpation and sever weight loss.
