Abstract

HEMOPTYSIS is an important pulmonary symptom, because massive HEMOPTYSIS can represent an acutely life threatening problem, also it can be a marker for potentially serious disease such as BRONCHOGENIC CARCINOMA. In this study 92 patients with HEMOPTYSIS were avaluated. Among 92 patients, 77 (83.6%) were with mild HEMOPTYSIS and 15 (16.4%) with massive HEMOPTYSIS. Most common causes of HEMOPTYSIS in this study consist of BRONCHIECTASIS 25%, active tubercolosis 21.7% and BRONCHOGENIC CARCINOMA 15%. In 7.6% had no Identify etiology for HEMOPTYSIS (unknown). Most common causes of massive HEMOPTYSIS were active tubercolosis 46.6% and BRONCHIECTASIS 26.6%.
