Abstract

The phenomenon of URBANIZATION with its long history is facing a future more complex than today. The existing evidence also precludes the need for any proof for the validity of this argument. Since urban population has doubled within the past thirty years, according to reliable United Nations forecasts, this trend will continue for the next thirty years as well, especially in populated, developing countries. This phenomenon always contains the two dimensions of cost and benefit and, in general, has been one of the important elements in calculating different economic, social, and policy-making indicators. In this regard, four axes (population, society, economy and environment) in terms of continued future development need to be studied. Continuous urban development within these axes, has made the possession of scientific and influential management for confronting new challenges, the distribution of facilities based on policies suitable with the existing conditions, the need for a renewed understanding of the issues, following the rules of the game at national and global levels, inevitable.
