Abstract

Objective: Hepatitis B is an important disease that health care workers are very susceptible to it The main objective of this study is to determine response after hepatits B vaccine injection and some related factors to unresponsiveness. Methods: 130 HOSPITAL personnel's were evaluated in Sina HOSPITAL in 200I. All of them had been vaccinated and less than 5 years was taken after last dose of vaccine. We got blood sample and complete the research questionnaire from personnel's. The sample was evaluated for anti-HBc, HBs-Ag and anti-HBs (quantitative) by, ELISA. Results: Of 130 personnel's, 14 persons had anti-HBc and anti-HBs positive and one person had HBs-Ag positive, whom all were excluded. From the residual, 66(57).4%) were male. 89(77.4%) had "good response" to vaccine (anti-HBs<10). Frequency of good response in male was 69.7% and in female was 87.7% (P=0.02). This frequency in less than 40 years old was 82% and in others was 61.5% (p=0.01). The good response in Body Mass Index (BMI) less than 21 was 93.3% and in group of BMI more than 27 was 89.5% (p=0.158). Conclusion: The frequency of response to hepatits B vaccine are approximately adjusted to results of similar studies in Iran and other countries. The relationship but BMI has no significant relation with response.
