Abstract

 We have "self-concept" as the cognitive part of the self, learnt and gained
as the result of the individual experiences. On the other hand self-esteem being the
emotional evaluation of the "self is measured through the positive and negative
characteristics.
Although social deviances are the results of individual, social, economical, cultural,
... factors. We have negative self-concept, lack of self-esteem and low self-concept
fitting as influencing factors on the attitudes of individuals towards social deviances,
addictionbeingan instancefor our presentconcern.
The present study focused on non/addicted youngsters uses the Rogers self-concept
Questionnaire and a researcher prepared Questionnaire. With the focus on the elements
as attitude toward Life, lite satisfaction, ability for decision making, self comparison
with others, as its available tools for the collection of the data. It is a "cross sectional",
descriptive analysis. Our sample includes 99 addicted youngsters under the age of 25
with the same amount of non addicted ones choesn random and match by variable such
as sex, age, education and habitation.
The result of the study shows a significant difference between the "self concept" of
addicted subjects with the non addicted ones, (α<5%). Meaning that there is a
correlation between the entities, "self-concept" and "addiction"
