Abstract

In recent years many investigators have noted to potential biological basis of ADDICTION. Different sensitivity to signals of reward & punishment developed the hypothesis that drug abusers are characterized by a weak BIS or their BAS sensitivity renders the BIS ineffective. In present study to assess the differences between BRAIN/BEHAVIORAL SYSTEMS activity in addicted and non addicted individuals, 30 male addicted subjects were compared with 30 male non-addicted subjects on Gray-Wilson Personality Questionnaire (GWPQ). The results revealed higher BAS activity & lower BIS activity in addicted subjects. There was not any significant difference in FFS activity between two groups.
