Abstract

The present research studies the effect of COUNSELING on changing the OFFENDER's tendencies towards certain components of a value system. One hundred and twenty OFFENDERs were randomly selected from the Isfahan prison to participate in this study. Participants were then divided in to 3 experimental groups (thievers, drug addicted, sexual OFFENDERs) and a control group. Differential Values Inventory (Prince) and Values Inventory (Rakij) were used as pre-tests. Participants then participated in individual and group weekly COUNSELINGs for 3 months. At the end of the 3 months, participants were again tested. The significant difference between the test results of the two groups indicates that COUNSELING has a positive effect on the value systems of female OFFENDERs. This study suggests the use of special training programs for prevention and reeducation of young OFFENDERs.
