Abstract

 Debonding of denture teeth from a denture base is a major problem in prosthodontic Practice. Studies that have evaluated the frequency of various denture repairs have found that tooth debnoding is the most frequent repair for conventional prosthesis. In this investigation we tried to select strongest bond straight of an Iranian denture tooth-Marjan-to acrylic resin base (Bayer), using four different PREPARING METHODS:A. No further ridge lap preparation was carried outB. Breaking the ridge lap glazeC. Preparing 2 grooves 1.5 mm deep and 1.5 wide in a mesiodistal direction with a straight fissure bur.D. Preparing a hole 1.5 mm in diameter with a round bur.Method and Material: 84 acrilic teeth (Marjan) were selected. These teeth were divided in four groups Teeth were mounted on two sides of triangular shaped wax models. Then the laboratory procedures removal of wax and resin packing according to Birtish standard 3990 (Bs 3990) or ISO 336 was done. Each of the specimens was tested by universal test DARTEC machine with cross head speed of 5 mm/min.The results of this study showed that highest mean bond strength was seen in no ridge lap preparation group and breaking the ridge lap glaze would decrease the bond strength significantly.The percentage of adhesive fracture in first group was lower than cohesive fracture, but in other groups the percentage of adhesive fractures was more than cohesive type.There were significant difference between the means bond strength of canine, central and lateral.The results at this study showed that breaking the lap glaze in Marjan teeth, would decrease its bond strength to acrylic base. On the other side the most surface area between and base, the further bond strength exists.
