SPREADING OF OXYURIS AND EFFECTIVE FACTORS ON THAT IN URMIA KINDERGARTENS

Abstract

Background & Aims: Infection of intestine parasite is a common health problem in all societies all over the world. Especially about OXYURis which is mostly seen in dormitories, military bases, and others like where people live as a group and are in connection with each other. The purpose of this survey is to find out the sufficiency of OXYURis infection and effective factors on its spreading in URMIA day cares which was done in 1381.Materials and Methods: In this descriptive and analytical research 393 cases of under 1 to 6 years old were randomly chosen among URMIA public and private day cares according to their population. All CHILDREN were at the age of 1-6. Data gathering tool was a questionnaire for demographic identification, determining the rate of infection, the samples were tested by scothtape method. For evaluation goals descriptive statistic method and KX2 and odds ratio were used. Results: Of 393 kids including both sexes, 189 (8.1%) male and 204 (51.9%) female, the number of infected CHILDREN was 18 (4.6%) and among these the number of infected boys was 10 (2.56%) and girls 8 (2.04%). The greater part of infection in both sexes was in 6 year-old age group. There was invers relationship between OXYURis infection and health services. Number of infected CHILDREN with low educated parents was more than CHILDREN with high educated parents. (65.4% to 11.1%).Discussion: This research clearly shows that great numbers of day cares of URMIA are located in high socioeconomic districts and just a few of them are in poor neighborhood. Environmental health services were the most impressive factors in spreading the disease. The number of male CHILDREN and CHILDREN with low educated parents was more than the others. On the other hand 10.3% of infected cases were in 5-6 age group i.e. there is a significant relationship between age and the disease; older CHILDREN are more infected. Most probably they have more social connection.
