Abstract

 Backgrounds & Aims: Evaluation of the rate of pregnancy (including EP) HYPERLIPIDEMIA, HYPERGLYCEMIA and ABNORMAL UTERINE BLEEDING in progestogen only pill users during breast feeding. Materials & Methods: A semeriexperimental study was performed on 170, 20-45 years old women during breast feeding who used lynestrenol for contraception. This was started two months after delivery and has been continued for six months. FBS, cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL-C, LDL-C, was measured at the beginning of lynestrenol use and three months and six months later. Pregnancy rate, ECTOPIC PREGNANCY rate and abnormal bleeding were recorded during the period of lynestrenol using.Result: Among 170 women, only one pregnancy occurred (0.58 %). There was no ECTOPIC PREGNANCY. FBS, cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL –C, LDL-C didn't have and clinically significant changes and their changes were in the normal range. Menorrhagia was the only important complication which was the only important communication which was the only important complication which was observed is 34.7% of patients and started during the first months and reduced gradually with time. Conclusion: With respect to the safety of minipill on lipid profile and blood sugar, we can offer it as an effective method for contraception in patients who are high risk for cardiovascular disease and diabetic patients and in women who can not or should not use combined pills, and of course in women older than 40 who have decreased ovarian function because in these patients unwanted estrogen effects are risky.
