SEXUAL FUNCTION IN WOMEN WITH GENITAL PROLAPSE BEFORE AND AFTER ANTERIOR POSTERIOR COLPORRHAPHY (APR)

Abstract

 Introduction: Sexual dysfunction is a common problem in women with PELVIC ORGAN PROLAPSE that impacts their quality of life and sexual relations. Therefore, this study was performed with aim to assess the SEXUAL FUNCTION in women with genital prolapse before and after anterior- posterior colporrhaphy.Methods: This descriptive-comparative study was performed on 105 women with PELVIC ORGAN PROLAPSE referred to Shahid Mofateh gynecology clinic of Yasouj in 2014-2015. Data were collected through a demographic questionnaire and Female SEXUAL FUNCTION Index (FSFI) before and three months after the surgery. Data were analyzed by SPSS software (version 18) and …., paired T-test, Chi-square and regression test.Results: The mean score of SEXUAL FUNCTION before and 3 months after colporrhaphy had no significant difference with before the surgery (P>0.05), but mean score of sexual satisfaction showed significant decrease 3 months after colporrhaphy (P=0.003. Mean score of arousal, orgasm and pain didn’t have significant difference with before the surgery (P>0.05), and the score of desire and lubrication significantly decreased (P<0.05).Conclusion: Although surgical treatment such as colporrhaphy is a chosen treatment for pelvic prolaps and can improve the symptoms of prolapse, but has no impact on SEXUAL FUNCTION and decrease sexual satisfaction.
