THE GEOGRAPHIC BASES OF SECURITY THREATS IN THE WEST AND NORTHWEST BOUNDARY REGIONS

Abstract

 lanning a main question and two hypotheses and presenting an investigation, the present research analyzes the new geopolitical changes of boundary regions of northwest and west on basis of some geopolitical realities. Research findings show due to changes in Iraq and establishment Kurdish autonomous region in the north of Iraq, the new pivot of security threats is shaping for Iran. The threats sources for NATIONAL SECURITY and integrity until 2003 was just from Azerbaijan’s side (northwest of Iran), but with the establishment of the Kurdish autonomous region in Iraq, the Islamic republic of Iran has encountered with a new pivot of security threats from the southwest of northwest direction. The consequences of recent threats cannot be denied from geopolitical perspective on the boundary regions of the northwest and the west directly and on all other boundary and ethnical regions of Iran indirectly.
