Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of group counseling on Existential Crises of Adolescents in Shiraz in 2000. Two groups of 40 high school students were randomly selected as the experimental and control groups in this study. First, Inventory Existential Crisis (IEC) was administered to all subjects as the Pre-test. Then the Existential group received group counseling in 10 sessions (on session each week). After that IEC were administred again as the post-test to all subjects. The independent variables were group counseling; The depindent variable was IEC score. The controlled Variables consisted of existential crisis pretest elonomis status, Guidance school grade point average (GPA), and parents education. The result of Multivariate analysis of variance showed that the experimental group significantly scored lower than the control group on the ICE Post-test (P < 0.001). There was no significant difference between boys and girls with regard to ICE Post-test scores. None of the relationships between controlled variables and the ICE Post-test scores were significant.
