Abstract

 Helping students in accordance with their abilities and interests is a counselors task in high schools. When high school students select their fields of study in accordance with their abilities and interests they will be effective and successful. This study examines the relationships berween educational guidance criteria and academic achievmints of Kashan high school students and their attitudes toward selected fields of study. This study is a Survey of correlational type. The sample of this study included 351 of third grade students in Kashan high schools who were randomly clustered. The data were analyzed with SPSS. The results showed that there was a positive correlation between academic achievements and teachers and counselors scores of high school students (r=0/38, 0/26, 0/12), and a low correlation between academic achievements and Holland test scores (r=./12). There was no correlation between academic achievements and Raven test scores. The means of students attitudes toward the cacdemic branches were higher than those in technical and vocational and "Kardanesh" branches.
