Abstract

During the past few years attention has been drawn on chemical techniques that could be used to textile wastewater decolorization. The photooxidation of two commercial DYES, Acid Orange 7 (AO7) and Acid Orange 8 (AO8); Has been studied in a photochemical reactor. In this reactor ultraviolet (UV) light and hydrogen peroxide were employed to generate hydroxyl radicals for the destruction of DYES in aqueous phase. Irradiation was carried out with a low-pressure mercury lamp. Results of decolorization of Wastewater were measured by absorbency at the characteristic Wavelength. The effects of UV light intensity, hydrogen peroxide dosage and initial concentration of DYES on the degradation rate of wastewater were investigated.
