The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of exercise during the late of pregnancy on the incidence of OCCIPUT POSTERIOR POSITION in primiparous women.METHODS: This clinical trial study with multi-stage sampling was done on 90 eligible nulliparas referring to 4 health centers of Bojnourd during 2004-2005. We educated all fours position with pelvic rocking to experimental group by face to face manner. They have been doing the exercise for 10 minutes, one daily, beginning from the 34th week of gestation until the labor. Then data was collected through interview forms and observation checklists during pregnancy and labor and then the data were analyzed.FINDINGS: Results indicates that the incidence of occiput posterior in experimental group was 53.2% and in control group was 59.3% that this difference was significant (p<0.05). Most position of fetal head was anterior in experimental group and was posterior in control.CONCLUSIONS: Based on the results of this study, it seems that this exercise can decrease the incidence of occiput posterior in the early stage of labor.
