Abstract

This descriptive and analytical research aimed to analyze the content of 12th grades high school biology book based on Merrill instructional objectives. The statistical population and sample population biology Textbook of 12th grade is published in 1398. Quantitative analysis was performed using descriptive statistics including frequency, percent as well as two-dimensional tables according to Merrill's design, and the following results were obtained:-The content of the book focuses more on theoretical knowledge and concepts as well as on application performance.-Match between levels desired in initial presentation.-High correlation between parameters in secondary presentation-The proportion between Merrill's four proposed principles in the book's content The book's weaknesses are its lack of attention to practical knowledge and the practice of discovery. The element of rules and regulations has been adequately used, This is one of the strengths of the book, and it follows Piaget's cognitive theory. Other strengths include the proper use of secondary presentation components that make the book stand out and make learning easier and more sustainable. It can be concluded that the book is largely consistent with Merrill's teaching model. The findings of this study can assist education practitioners in providing appropriate content in the biology Textbook.
