Abstract

Endogenous growth theory has introduced a way in which the effects of taxation on growth can be traced and examined. The main propose of the present paper is to examine the effects of taxation on economic growth with an emphasis on the endogenous growth theory. The results of the paper indicate that in theoretical model framework of the endogenous growth, the effects of taxation of economic growth are ambiguous. Therefore, it is recommended to review the empirical evidence in this regard. Our main conclusion on the empirical studies reveals the high sensitivity of the results with respect to the parameters as well as the kind of data (i.e. cross-section versus time series), and shows the relatively weak effect of taxation on growth.
