Abstract

Complementary / Alternative medicine has been described as diagnosis, treatment and or prevention which complements mainstream medicine by satisfying a demand not met by orthodoxy medicine. Social scientists are interested in studying social factors that cause the prevalence of COMPLEMENTARY/ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE. This article aim to study why do people turn to COMPLEMENTARY/ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE? There are some experimental that supports the following assumptions:Dissatisfaction with health outcomes of conventional medicine, DISSATISFACTION with DOCTOR-PATIENT COMMUNICATION, DISSATISFACTION with political and economics dimensions of medicine and the emergence of new postmodern VALUE SYSTEM.In Iran, there are evidences of attitudes toward Alternative medicine. So it is necessary to find out the diverse dimensions of this subject and it's consequences.
