Abstract

With the coming to power of Barack OBAMA, the democratic presidential candidate in the U.S., political observers predict that a new chapter will be opened in TRANSATLANTIC RELATIONS. Given the new international situation, it is expected that the U.S. and the EU cooperate much closer to solve global problems and international crises. Particularly at the time that the U.S.needs more than any other time in the past to recover its lost prestige, it will be likely that it tends to adopt a multilateral approach. But the two sides face serious challenges in pursuing this way. This article tries to study TRANSATLANTIC RELATIONS in OBAMA's era and to examine the most important issues facing the U.S. and the EU regarding political and security problems including disarmament, arms control, climate change, Russia, Arab-Israeli conflict, Iran and Afghanistan.
